Have A Suggestion?
Do you have an idea or a suggestion? The Friends want to know!
A Call for Books
The Friends of the Library are having a book drive through the month of August. We are in need of children's books, gently used paper back and hard back books, and books on tape. We would like newer books (published within the last 15 years).
Please bring the donations to the Ripon Library during regular operating hours.
Our limit is no more than two boxes at a time unless you check with a librarian.
The board of the Friends of the Library is losing a very special board member this month. David Humiston has served as president, vice president, and secretary during the last ten years, and is currently chairing our Membership and Grants Committees. We are very happy for David, who will be joining his family in Virginia, but he will be missed. The board appreciates the wonderful job he has done as a volunteer at our library.
LEGO CLUB FOR KIDS
Wednesday, August 3, 17, & 31 at 3:30pm
Lego (TM) Club for Kids is a drop-in program that allows kids to make Lego creations with Legos provided by the library. We give the children a theme to spark their creativity and they can spend an hour building whatever their imagination conjures. It's a fun, non-competative afternoon activity for the whole family! We also provide Duplos for smaller children.

It's Great to Have Friends
Everywhere you turn, there is news about the budget challenges facing the Stockton San Joaquin Library system which includes the Ripon Memorial Library. Articles have been written that include the possibility of a reduction in service hours, privatizing and layoffs.
While there is much uncertainty, the Friends continue to support, raise funds and advocate for the Ripon Memorial Library. Since the 1970's, the Friends have carried out our mission statement which includes year round support for the Ripon Memorial Library. While the economy has dealt community libraries a tough hand, Friends groups have continued to step up and provide help when it is needed the most. As an advisory group, the Ripon Friends continues to ensure that our work does not stop and are continuing to provide funding for programs, materials and educational resources that are requested from the Ripon community. Our commitment to our mission and to the Ripon community is the driving force behind our keep moving forward efforts. Changes are sure to come but the Friends are committed to providing all that the community has come to expect as our members have empowered us to do.
Join us by continuing to support the Friends through your generous donations, Friends Book Sale purchases, Save Mart S.H.A.R.E.S. card use and ongoing used book donations.
